On Monday 3 Aug 2009 the weather was glorious and RAF Leuchars
became host to 65 light aircraft, microlights & helicopters
with 150 civilian pilots from all over Scotland.

There were F3 simulator flights, as many as time would allow,
an excellent £5 BBQ run by Lt Col Ian Murning and the
Chefs of 71 Engineering Regiment
and a static F3 with help from Dunny, PK and Sarah.

Andy Mac took pilots up to the Air Traffic Control Tower, Sqn Ldr Dan Arlett
of 111 Squadron  & Sqn Ldr Derek Sington (Ret’d) provided very popular
briefs throughout the day on military flying areas and procedures.

Claire Birch, Ian Findlay, Paul Brownless,
Tom & Mark McNulty provided the legwork.

6 Marshallers of 111 Squadron provided the safe and expeditious flow
of aircraft on the ground, the Thales simulator staff provided our visitors
with a valuable insight into flying the F3,and Air Traffic provided a service
to 65 aircraft all wanting to be in the same place at the same time!

How often do you see a Spitfire, Tornado F3, Cessna 152 and a Microlight in the same photo?
